Monkey see, monkey do.

Monkey see, Monkey do is a great idiom for choosing your friends and mentors wisely.

You will always pick up habits and expressions from those with whom you surround yourself.

Surrounding yourself with honest, generous, and loving people will render the same in you, but surrounding yourself with those who are manipulative and only out to serve their own needs will render not only the same in you but also anger, regret, fear, and a number of other pains.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17).

This can also work in reverse. As dull beats dull, so one person can dull another.

When you become dull, you lose those standards by which you can make those judgments of what is truly right and wrong; you lose values, which are known as the beliefs that motivate a person to act in a certain manner. Without values, your behavior becomes unruly, disrespectful, ungrateful, scoffing at absolutes, and prideful, and your morality will decline.

Like that wise and funny saying, "Monkey see, monkey do," so will you based on the crew you choose to pursue.

Not bad for a rhyme, right?

Anyway, Monkey see, monkey do.

Choose your friends wisely.
