We had a blast at the Art of Cosplay photography class sponsored by Bedford Camera & Video and taught by C.R.P.J.PHOTOGRAPHY.
Let me begin by sharing another of my photos from that class.

Yes, those are bubbles. Christopher R.P. Jones of C.R.P.J.PHOTOGRAPHY brought this incredible device for photographers that blows smoke—it's a smoke machine! I know, you're probably thinking, "They've been around for decades," and you would be correct; however, this was a new type of smoke machine. It’s small, fits in your hand, can blow out smoke like fog, smoke like dry ice where it stays on the ground or object, and it blows bubbles.
Bubbles. So what? Bubbles can be fun on a photoshoot, especially when they contain smoke inside them. Yes, you read that right.
This smoke machine can create bubbles that contain smoke inside them, and when you pop the bubble, the smoke comes out in some cool ways, resulting in cool effects for your subject and photograph.
Unfortunately, I was handling the smoke machine most of the evening, so I did not get some of those awesome shots, but a few of the other photographers did, and they look amazing. I was able to capture this photograph, though.

Anyway, Christopher R.P. Jones taught a great class, gave us some great information on photographing cosplayers—especially how to protect yourself when taking photographs at events—and allowed us the opportunity to play with this new type of smoke machine.

Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos from both events:
Also, Bedford Camera & Video sponsored a Cosplay Photography Event at this place called WOMPA in downtown Tulsa. WOMPA is a hidden gem for photography and events. We had multiple cosplayers show up, some in costumes that looked right out of the movies, and then there was me, yes, me, in my nearly 16-or-so-year-old Robin costume. I can't believe that thing still fits...somewhat. It was, however, falling apart on the inside. The foam padding on the inside was like charcoal, crumbling and falling out.

Anyway, I was able to capture a few photographs from that event as well. Most were near the end, since I was dressed up too.
But why would I dress up? Because the Batmobile was there. Yes, THE BATMOBILE!!!!

Mr. Blankenship with Tulsa Pop Kids brought an actual working Batmobile, which he helped build from the ground up, to this event. It was awesome! I even got to get in the Batmobile.
I brought my costume as a backup, just in case, but when I saw the Batmobile arrive, I knew it was my ticket inside.

I didn't realize how much fun it could be to dress up for these types of photography events. If you've never been to a cosplay photography event, I suggest you do, either as a photographer or participant. They are fun, you get to meet a lot of cool people, and you learn a lot about photography, posing, and the characters that are there.
The Stars were all there—Star Trek and Star Wars.

Robin even got to fight some Star Wars characters… although that didn’t go too well. That helmet was hard!

Poor Robin, being thrown from the roof. I guess that’s what he gets for trying to photobomb a Star Wars image, and for picking a fight with them.

All in all it was a very fun time with great people.
Thank you Bedford Camera & Video and C.R.P.J.PHOTOGRAPHY!
And thank you to everyone who came out and joined in!
And just for fun, let’s end with a photo by Eric Andrew Clark (it is the blog cover photo)—except this time I’ve played with AI, something I haven’t often done, to leave us with a “what in the world did I just watch” hilariously created AI animated photo. Must have sound turned on. AI is crazy! Lol.
